Slate Placemats

The formation of slate allows it to be split easily into thin slabs, making it the perfect material for these stylish and durable placemats. In eternally stylish black and white, our individually cut mats and coasters come in circular or rectangular form and complement any décor or colour scheme. 

Each separate design, drawn exclusively for the Islay Slate Company by artist Nicola Stein has its own unique combination of tranquil curves, lines, and twists which surround four different symbols of natural and historical Islay: the wild reeds, the barnacle Geese, the Finlaggan sword and shield.

These delicate borders inspired by traditional Celtic art, beautifully complement the touchable texture and weight of pure slate. They come in matching sets, but can be purchased e.g. as a set comprising all or a selection of the different designs or a mixture thereof. 

Placemats are individually hand cut, polished and fitted with protective durable feet or felt. They are supplied in sets of four, tied with natural twine with a care tag or supplied individually.

Rectangle placemats are approx. 32cm x 22cm. Circular placemats are approx. 29cm diameter.
