Welcome to Kingdom of Fife - Soap
Company
The Kingdom of Fife Soap Company is a small, growing, family run business
based in the heart of Fife in Scotland, surrounded by rolling farmland and the
Lomond Hills.
I, Hazel Smith trained as a Beauty Therapist in Glasgow in 1994 and worked onboard luxury
cruise liners where I used a number of different product lines and specialised
in aromatherapy treatments and skincare. I have been using Aromatherapy
now for 12 years, and have admired the benefits of these natural products.
This inspired me to do more research into alternative health and natural
products and subsequently led to the Kingdom of Fife Soap Company being created
in 2004.
This special interest has developed into a passion and into a product line free
from synthetic fragrances and colourings, which can often irritate and dry the
skin. Our products are cruelty free and are certified according to
cosmetic regulations. We ensure the emollient glycerin, which naturally
exists in soap, is maintained to provide excellent moisturising qualities and
only add additional ingredients for their nutritional or therapeutic values and
which uphold the integrity of a natural product.
By using pure ingredients you can appreciate the subtle palette of colour and
aroma of our naturally handcrafted range, suitable for all skin types and all
ages.

Ingredients
Soap dates as far back as 2500bc and was traditionally made with animal fats
and wood ashes. A calculated combination of these alkaline and acidic
substances, mixed in the right circumstances, react and neutralise to create
soap and glycerine. Modern soap making is still based on this principle
reaction although the ingredients have differed slightly.
Our handmade vegetable soap is based on a blend of coconut, palm and olive
oils and is made by the simple ‘cold process’ method which uses only the
heat from the chemical reaction between the oils and caustic soda mixed with
Scottish spring water. Once extracted from its mould the soap is
hand-cut and cured for approximately 4 – 6 weeks.
Each vegetable oil brings a different quality and characteristic to the soap.
Coconut oil creates a beautiful lather and certain hardness to the bar; Palm Oil
also ensures a firm soap bar, therefore long lasting, and brings a superior
quality and mildness. Olive oil prevents the loss of your skins natural
moisture as well as softening and attracting external moisture to the skin.
Combined these basic ingredients (sodium palmate i.e. soap made with palm oil)
create a mild, well balanced, moisturising bar with rich creamy lather.
Kingdom of Fife Soap range has various added nutrients, botanicals or natural
essential oils to enhance and contribute beneficial properties and evoke
physical as well as emotional responses for a completely holistic experience.
Our luxurious range of natural handmade soaps and skincare products are
inspired by Scotland’s finest produce. All are free from synthetic fragrances
and colourings by using 100% natural ingredients and pure aromatherapy oils to
create a subtle holistic skincare range suitable for all skin types.
